MBOMBELA — Mpumalanga MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation Leah Mabuza has launched the 11th Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience, announcing nine events across the province aimed at celebrating cultural heritage, promoting local talent and creating economic opportunities for artists.

The launch took place at Emnotweni Arena in Mbombela on 13 October 2026, bringing together artists, traditional leaders and other stakeholders.

Mabuza said the initiative aimed to preserve the province's cultural heritage while creating sustainable opportunities for artists to earn a living.

"This is more than just entertainment. The Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience is about who we are as a people, about preserving our heritage and creating sustainable livelihoods for our artists," she said.

She emphasised the creative industry's role in creating jobs and providing young people with opportunities to showcase their talents and generate income.

The 2026 programme will kick off with the Creative Music Workshop at Mbombela Stadium from 11 to 13 November, followed by Comedy Xperience at The Arena, Emnotweni, on 26 November.

Carnival Xperience will take place at Mbombela Promenade Centre on 27 November, while Choral Music Xperience will be held at El Ella De Bruin Hall in Msukalikwa Local Municipality on 28 November.

On the same day, 013 Summer Blaze will take place at Mbombela Stadium, followed by Soul Session Xperience in the City of Mbombela on 29 November.

The Traditional Xperience is scheduled for 5 December at Mhlaba Traditional Council in Nkomazi Local Municipality.

The programme will conclude with the Gospel Awards at Communio Auditorium in the City of Mbombela, Ehlanzeni District Municipality, on 6 December.

Mabuza said the provincial government wanted cultural activities to reach communities across Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande and Nkangala districts.

"We want to take the Xperience to the people. Whether you are in Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande or Nkangala, you must feel the impact of this programme," she said.

She also called on residents, artists and businesses to support the initiative.

"We call upon all our people, our artists and our business community to walk this journey with us. Let us celebrate Mpumalanga, let us celebrate our culture," Mabuza said.
