Community Guidelines
Comments are a space for respectful conversation about the news. These guidelines apply to all comments and replies in the Highveld Chronicle app.
What we welcome
- Respectful, on-topic discussion, even when you disagree.
- Corrections, additional facts and local knowledge, ideally with a source.
- Personal experience that helps others understand a story.
What is not allowed
- Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar traits.
- Threats, harassment, bullying or encouraging violence or self-harm.
- Defamation: false statements that damage a person's or business's reputation.
- Sexual content, graphic violence, or content involving minors.
- Sharing private information about others (doxxing).
- Spam, scams, advertising and impersonation.
- Content that breaks South African law.
Reporting and blocking

What happens when rules are broken
We may remove comments, warn you, or suspend or delete accounts. Serious or repeated breaches may lead to a permanent ban and, where required, a report to the authorities.
