DELMAS – Three workers at Shweta Agro Farms are expected to return to work on Tuesday, 08 September 2026, following an intervention by the Ingoma Task Team over concerns about their employment after attending initiation school.
The development follows a Highveld Chronicle report last week about the workers’ concerns over leave and employment arrangements at the farm.
Highveld Chronicle learned of the development through a Facebook post by Ndabezitha Nsizwa Mahlangu, who said cultural activist Thando Mahlangu had taken the matter to the Ingoma Task Team.
According to the post, the task team subsequently met with the company’s human resources executives, legal representatives and affected community members to discuss the workers’ situation.
Mahlangu said the meeting resulted in an agreement for all three workers to report for duty at 08:00 on Tuesday.
He said two of the workers would return as permanent employees, while the third, who had been on a short-term contract, would receive an extension.
According to the post, the three workers were also given money for transport to return to work, while payments for their outstanding leave days were transferred into their bank accounts.
Mahlangu described the engagement with the company as “very heated”, but said the task team secured the reported outcomes.
Highveld Chronicle could not independently verify the agreement, the workers’ reported employment status changes or the payments described in the post by the time of publication.
