Wilge — A local nonprofit organisation, K Mother of Nations, recently donated at least 30 pairs of shoes and sanitary towels to Sibongindawo Primary School. This act of kindness brought smiles to the faces of many children and has highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by families in the community.
Principal Hazareth Vilakazi expressed her appreciation for the foundation’s efforts. “The donation of school shoes means so much to our children. Many of our [learners] come from families struggling to provide basic necessities. This support not only helps them physically but also boosts their confidence and morale,” she said. “We are grateful to the K Mother of Nations Foundation for their contribution. It is essential for our children to come to school feeling proud and comfortable. The shoes will certainly make a difference in their daily lives.”
Learners of Sibongindawo come from Balmoral Farms, Kendal Farms and informal settlements. Koketso Nobela, the founder of K Mother of Nations Foundation, shared her vision for the organisation and the importance of supporting children in need. “I started this foundation with the hope of making a positive change in our community,” she said. “Every child deserves the chance to succeed, and I believe that providing the necessary tools, like school shoes, can help pave the way for their future.”
Mariri went on to explain the motivation behind her efforts: “I have always been passionate about helping others and I saw that there was a pressing need in our community. By establishing the K Mother of Nations Foundation, I aimed to create a platform where we can collectively work towards supporting our children and ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive.”
Reflecting on the event at Sibongindawo Primary School, Nobela said, “Seeing the joy on the children’s faces as they received their new shoes was heartwarming. It reminded me of why I started this foundation. We have a long way to go, but moments like this inspire us to keep pushing forward.”
The K Mother of Nations Foundation aims to continue its efforts by reaching out to various schools and communities in the region, with plans to organise more donation drives and support initiatives throughout the year. “It’s all about collaboration,” she said. “We encourage everyone in the community to get involved, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about our efforts. Together, we can create a brighter future for our children,” Nobela stated.
