We were raised within the ranks of the national democratic revolution led by the ANC, unapologetically so this is therefore the main reason why the UET is an NPO aligned to the ANC.

Speaking across varying factors that affect the youth in Mpumalanga Speedy Mashilo stated that unemployment especially amongst the youth, drug abuse, rape and numerous factors were a concerned to the Mpumalanga government. Speedy Mashilo kept on the same ethos and echoed that “when the youth come together and says we are unemployed and ask for direction. We as the ANC have no choice but to help especially since this is an NPO. We also hope the organization grows and continues to help more people.”
Sikhumbuzo Eric Kholwane the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism addressed the crowd and indicated that the Mpumalanga government will support these young people because unlike the previous organisation that was in existence, this one has clarity. He indicated that this UETSA was talking about programs to assist the unemployed and since you have relayed this respect to us, “we support you, we are behind you, and we will move with you”.
Raising problems faced by the unemployed and possible solutions Mathebula said “we are also tired of you bringing us businessmen who get money from you the government and make us suffer with the very same money they get from you ANC our government”. This Sunday Mathebula said requesting the Mpumalanga government to ensure that if facilitated in seeing that any contractors in the province who had projects availed programs to include the youth and they were not after positions. “We just want job opportunities to feed our families and help us grow.” The unemployment rate is on the rise in the nation as a whole following job losses and the youth continue to be the most vulnerable.
