Military collectors display coming to Delmas
The Military Collectors and Re-enactment Society (MCRS) is coming to Delmas on the 9th of June, the visit of the society on the weekend will afford Delmas a first in a military display that will happen at the Willowbrooke Square. The day will be characterised by a show of differing military gear and personnel who have love and passion for what they will display.
Marc Quesnel the societies deputy chair spoke to the Highveld Chronicle on the side-lines of the Swartkops Air show stating that “the society is a non-profit making entity that relives history and attracts collectors. One of the key purposes of the society is to interact with the public”. Delmas has the opportunity to meet with the society members and enjoy the display that will be hosted courtesy of the membership of Celso Dos Santos who is a lifetime member of the society.
The society was started over twelve years ago and is growing from strength to strength, Marc who has been part of the organisation for five years highlighted that the organisation is active and has several events lined up for the year. Having already been at Voortkreker monument and at the time of our interview they had a display at the Swartkops Air Show in Pretoria. Speaking about the Delmas event Marc indicated that the society members will come in uniform and that they would set up machine guns and interact with the public. If you love your military history or have a passion for similar then this date is one to mark on the calendar.
