Exxaro reaches out to Endumbeni for Mandela Day
Exxaro Leeuwpan Coal Mine identified Endumbeni Youth and Community Development Centre in Delmas as the beneficiaries for their Mandela Day project. Endumbeni is housed inside an annexure office attached to the extension three hall a site, this is where the Mandela Day mandate by Exxaro Leeuwpan was rolled out.
Exxaro has erected a precast wall around the community hall which houses the Endumbeni Centre a process which was undertaken understandably days before the 18th of July tribute. On the actual Mandela day Exxaro employees descended on the premises all geared for their 67 minutes as they embarked on painting the inside of the Endumbeni Centre offices and the Extension three hall. Repairs were also undertaken on the ceiling over the front of house of the hall.
Since the founding of the Endumbeni Centre seven years ago the organisation has relied on stipends from the Mpumalanga Department of Sport and Recreation and gifts from well-wishers, the noble initiative by Exxaro Leeuwpan to roll out such an extensive Mandela Day program will see the complete transformation of the Endumbeni Centre in what will be a breath of fresh air for the regular users. The restoration and refurbishing of the ablution facilities that were vandalised ages ago will ensure that the centre becomes a fully facilitated function.
Exxaro Leeuwpan Mine is also in the process of fixing the computers at Endumbeni Centre a process that will be coupled with a customised Wi-Fi solution installed at the centre courtesy of the mining house. This will be done together with the shelving for the books that are offered as part of an education solution by Endumbeni is appropriate. This extensive project has been rolled out by Exxaro in partnership with its contractors who are Safe Hands Holdings, Nkanyiso Xaba Properties and Lomeza Mining.
