Celebrating present fathers who play their role in the life of their children

Ebuhleni Men’s forum this Father’s Day set a new standard for Delmas. The team led by Solly Makhubo hosted man from Delmas over the days proceedings that were structured to recognise the fathers in the community whilst also encouraging them to step on a path of be better beacon bearers in the community.

One of the main sponsors on the day were Daybreak who ensured that the man who had gathered had a mouthful to eat. The day’s proceedings at Grow Disciples Church began with the children that had gathered for the function handing over mini flower pots with a variety of flowers with various gratitude messages for the fathers, some of which read “number one dad”.

Speaking on behalf of Daybreak Noko Mahlaba emphasised on the importance of man in the community and the work place without forgoing the encouragement for the man “to always buy local and buy Daybreak”. The mandate of the event was to empower man and boys with the relevant knowledge and skills in relation to social issues affecting the man on their day to day walk in life.

One of the speakers who graced the platform was Mr. Hoffman who officiated over the hand over of the flowers shortly before a prayer for all the man that had gathered in the room. The man who had attended left the venue with certificates of appreciation on being great fathers and a gift pack with marinade and spices.

In the light of the increase of violence on women, and the fact that a vast majority of that violence is perpetrated by man such gatherings that shape the mindset and re-engineer the man in our community are a much-needed breath of fresh air. This cause should be a regular feature in Delmas and not be calendared for Father’s Day alone.
